Cutting Nathan's Hair

Well, my plan was to give him a trim.

Last weekend, Nate refused to have his haircut by David's hairdresser. It's the same fuss he puts up when getting his fingernails cut.

Last night, I thought I would take the bull by the horns, so to speak, and trim the back. It has beautiful soft curls, but unfortunately, looks somewhat messy most of the time.

Nate wasn't having any of it. I got about halfway done before he figured out that if he screamed and shook his head, I actually couldn't keep cutting.

I didn't take any photos. I figure it'll grow back in, oh 7 months or so. (His hair grows very slowly.)

And it really wasn't my fault. He just wouldn't sit still.

The upside is that David worked until the wee hours last night and then left at 4:30 am for San Francisco, so he hasn't seen anything yet. Yet.

Kids Toys for Sale -- Cheap

You may have heard me complain before that our apartment has been infested with brightly coloured plastic. Much of it sings, makes noises of varying sorts, and generally creates clutter even when "put away". Now, Nate probably has more toys than he needs. Our house is not a shrine to store bought toys (let me introduce you to my brother's playroom for that), but given generous parents, grandparents and family friends, Nate does pretty well for himself.

So is my son using his various gadgets meant to stimulate simultaneously his creative and intelligent capabilities? No. He's playing with empty boxes. He has his Pamper's diaper box which doubles as a train or a plane depending on his mood. Or, as the pictures attest to, he's using a Mikasa box and pretending to be a package. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

I asked Nate if he would like to play with another toy, once I tired of closing him (for the 100th time) into the Mikasa box. He cheerfully replied "O-tay" and proceeded to crawl around under the area rug for the next 20 minutes.

I give up.
