Did I say drifting? By the time we'd driven home to North Van, 20 minutes or so, the flakes were falling fast and furious. By Sunday, 24 hours later, the world was truly a winter wonderland with a foot of snow everywhere. Chilco, a snow vetran of three years, promptly ran around the front yard, burying his head into the snow, becoming the abmoninable Wheaton Terrier.
Nathan was less sure what to think. However, he soon mastered the trick of yellling, "Mom?! Snow!" every two minutes. He loved bending over and swishing the snow with his mittens, yelling "Whoo Whoo Whoo" at the same time. Naturally the tape in the video recorder ran out just as he was warming up to the white stuff.
Here are some photos of our front yard and the boys enjoying themselves.

I spent the rest of the afternoon putting up the Christmas lights in our house, greenery and wreaths. David and I drank eggnog and listened to Christmas music while Nathan busily dragged his boots around the house, trying to convince us to go outside for a second romp in the snow.
Last night the snow (still falling) brought another seasonal joy: the power outage. We lost power around 9:30pm and it only came back on at 7:30am. By that time, the house was an icebox, and still pitch black. I have added flashlight and candles to my next shopping list.
We thought it would be a long commute into work, but it turned out to be a record-breaking time. No other Vancouverites were on the roads. (A little snow and this city shuts down, dontchya know.) David snapped photos through the car window as we drove in... listening to the local radio show announcer express his utter disgust at the number of people who "couldn't possibly be expected to go to work in these appalling weather conditions." David and I had to laugh. At this rate, the entire country (save the usually mild BC) would have 5 to 6 months off of work. Gotta love the west coasters!
